Here you can read about the different breeds that we supply and how they vary from the other rat breeds. Also feel free to take a glance at the care sheets if you intend to purchase our rodents! Knowledge is the difference between being prepared for a pet and rehoming a pet!
African Soft Fur Rats are perfect for the right keeper! Buyer beware as these are not friendly "pets"! They will bite if they feel at all threatned! They notoriously chew out of plastic cages and will even chew the sealant on aquariums if they do not have enough enrichment activities! These are smaller rats (a little bigger than a large mouse!) which is nice, but they tend to like living in large colonies. Now, the plus side is if you have a very picky snake, say a ball python in particular, this is the perfect rat to give them! These rats are a Ball Python's natural prey! Contrary to popular belief, these rats are NOT illegal in Washington State, if someone tells you they are, they are simply misinformed. I have gone through the proper channels to ensure that this was not a banned species!
These rats are ideal for breeding projects! They breed readily and grow quickly! Some reptiles will not take colored rodents, this is a solution to that problem! Albino rats move more slowly than normal rats and tend to "Wobble". This wobble is due to their lack of eyesight caused by their albinism.
These make wonderful pets! They are highly intelligent and love talking to you! Kids are friendly with them and tend to stay interested in them longer than normal rats, I can only speculate that this has something to do with their ears looking like an elephants! If you have a child (6+) this is the perfect pet for them, with adult supervision! They can be taught their names, and a load of other tricks!
Fancy Rats make perfect breeders as they breed like Lab Rats and perfect feeders for larger reptiles! They can even make great pets as they have higher intelligence much like that of a dumbo rat!
